A guest book people actually fill in.
The paper guest book sits on a side table all evening. Twelve people sign it, mostly the ones who were seated nearest, and half the entries are a first name and a heart.
Medley's guest book opens behind the same QR code as the photos. A guest writes a few lines from their seat, or records their voice, or films fifteen seconds. Nothing to install, nothing to queue for, and no microphone doing the rounds.
Three ways to say something.
Written
A few lines typed on a phone, signed with a first name. The shy guest who would never take a microphone writes the longest message of the evening.
Spoken or filmed
A voice message or a short video, recorded from the table. What people would never have written down, they say.
Read when you want
You choose who sees the entries: the organisers alone, so the surprise holds until the next morning, or everyone with access to the album.
Why the voice changes everything
A written message says what someone thought to write. A recording keeps how they said it, and that turns out to be the part you cannot reconstruct later.
It is the voice you will want in ten years
A grandparent's voice, an old friend's laugh, the child who says the wrong word: none of that survives on paper. It survives in a recording, and it is stored beside the photos, at the same address.
Nobody has to stand up
A microphone going round the room means one person speaking and a hundred waiting. Here everyone records at the same time, from their seat, whenever they feel like it, and the evening carries on.
Same QR code, same gesture
The guest book is a tab of the album, not a second tool with a second link to explain. The QR code on the tables opens both: the printable sign just has to say the guest book exists, or nobody will think of it.
You keep it, with the album
Written notes, recordings and videos live with the photos and are downloaded with them, in their own folder inside the archive. The album is kept at least until December 31, 2026.
What you control
Who reads the entries
Two settings, switched at any moment: visible to everyone with access to the album, or to the organisers only. The second is what you want on the day, if you would rather discover everything together the morning after.
When it closes
The guest book can be closed once the messages have come in, while the album stays open for photos, or the other way round. They are two separate switches.
What gets removed
Every guest can withdraw what they left, and you can remove any entry at all. As with the photos, a first name is what grants that right, with no account behind it.
Where it is stored
On infrastructure in the European Union, with OVH, with no facial recognition and no advertising: hosting and GDPR.
Frequently asked questions
- Do guests need an account to leave a message?
- No. The QR code opens the album in the phone's browser, and the guest book is one of its tabs. A first name is enough, and it is what gives each guest the right to withdraw their own entry later.
- How long can a recording be?
- Long enough for what people actually say: a message, a toast, a story. Recordings are made in the browser, with no app, and they are played back on the album page.
- Can we keep the entries a surprise until the next day?
- Yes: set the guest book to be visible to the organisers only. Guests still leave their messages, and they simply do not see each other's. You can switch it to everyone whenever you like, including weeks later.
- Do the messages come with the download?
- Yes. The album archive contains the photos and videos, and the guest book entries in a folder of their own, so the whole evening comes back in one file.
