Help

The manual, in the order things happen.

Seven steps, from creating the album to the morning after. The first four are enough to run an event from beginning to end; the other three are what organisers usually discover on the day itself.

The essentials

These four steps are enough to run an event from beginning to end.

  1. 1

    Create the album

Sign in, then press New album. Give it a name and the date of the event. The message for your guests is optional: it is the sentence they will read as they arrive.

Press Create album. It exists, it is empty, and you can prepare it weeks ahead.

  2. 2

    Bring your guests in

On the album page, press Invite. The Share the link button opens your phone's usual share sheet: messaging, text, email, whatever you like.

On the day itself, show the QR code just below instead. To put it on the tables, the sign maker produces a print-ready PDF, free of charge.

  3. 3

Your guests upload photos and videos

They have nothing to install and no account to create. The link or the QR code opens the album in their browser, they type a first name, press Add media and pick from their camera roll: photos and videos alike.

That is the only thing they need to know. If you have to write them a message, tell them exactly that.

  4. 4

    Get everything back

Press the button next to Invite, then Download all. You get one single file containing every photo and video, in original quality.

Anyone holding the link can do it, not just you: your guests leave with the whole album without asking you for anything.

Going further

None of this is compulsory. These are the settings and the two surfaces organisers generally discover on the day.

  1. 5

Set what your guests can do

In the menu, open Manage album. Under what your guests can do, three switches turn reactions, comments and the guest book off and on again. The change takes effect at once, with nothing to save.

Just below, the guest book's visibility decides whether its entries are visible to you alone, to keep them as a surprise, or to everyone. And guest access lets you switch the album to read-only, or close it, once the party is over.

  2. 6

Project the slideshow during the evening

In the menu, choose Live slideshow, then go full screen. Plug the computer into the venue's television or projector: the photos appear as they are uploaded.

The QR code stays in a corner, so the people who have not uploaded yet can see how. Videos play too, without sound: a projection happens over the music of the evening.

  3. 7

Approve the photos before they are projected

If you would rather look over what goes on screen, turn on Approve items before the slideshow in the settings. New photos then wait for your go-ahead before joining the slideshow.

A banner appears on the album page: Review takes them one by one, and you press Show or Hide. This only concerns the projection: the photo stays in the album either way.

The questions that come back

Do my guests have to install an app?
No, and that is the whole point. The link or the QR code opens the album in the phone's browser. They type a first name to sign their photos, and that is it: no account, no password, no installation.
Someone cannot upload their photos. What do I do?
In almost every case the venue's network is saturated. Ask them to try again on mobile data rather than wifi, or later: the album stays open after the event, and an upload resumes where it stopped if the tab was closed along the way.
Where are my albums when I come back to the site?
Sign in, and they are all listed on the My albums page, with how many items each holds. An album's link never changes: the one your guests already have stays valid, even months later.
Is a photo saved from the screen at full quality?
No: the arrow shown on a photo saves the version optimised for screens. The original files are in Download all, step 4. That is the route to take for printing or archiving.
A video says it is being prepared. Is that normal?
Yes. An uploaded video is prepared in the background so that it plays on every phone, which takes anything from a few seconds to a few minutes depending on its length. It appears on its own once ready, with nothing to reload.
Can I delete a photo?
Everyone can delete their own, from the device that uploaded them. You, as the organiser, can remove any media from your album, at any time.
Do I need a computer to project the slideshow?
Yes, or any device you can plug into the screen: a laptop, a set-top box, a streaming stick. The slideshow is a web page, so you just open it and go full screen.
How long is the album kept, and what does it cost?
Medley is in its test phase: unlimited photos and videos, in original quality, Live slideshow included, and nothing to pay. The album is kept at least until December 31, 2026.

Cannot find it here?

Write to max.bryselbout@gmail.com. Medley is published by one person: they are the one who will answer. Give the link to the album concerned, it saves a round trip.

Read it once, then never again.
