Wedbox: two months of storage included, and then?
Wedbox is one of the long-standing names of the shared wedding album, and its offer has real strengths. One point deserves your attention, though: its home page states that photos are stored free of charge for two months after the wedding; beyond that, the extension is billed at $2.50 a month.
Two months is short. The honeymoon, going back to work, the reminders to the guests who still have not uploaded anything, and the countdown is already running. Medley takes the opposite bet: an album nobody asks you to buy back.
The questions to ask before you choose
Whichever service you end up with (Wedbox, another one, or us), these are the criteria that make the difference once the day is over.
How long are my photos kept?
This is THE question of the category. Plenty of services cap free retention at one or two months, then bill for the rest. Check the duration, and check what happens to your files if you do not pay.
Where are my photos hosted?
Wedding photos are personal data: yours, and your guests'. Medley hosts them in the European Union (in France, with OVH), under the GDPR, and says so in black and white. Wedbox's privacy policy does not state where its servers are: ask them the question.
Is original quality included?
Depending on the service, downloading at full quality is included, charged for, or reserved for certain plans. At Medley it is simply how the thing works: on the way in and on the way out, for everyone.
Will anything survive besides the images?
A photo tells you where people were, not what they thought. Ask whether the service has a guest book: at Medley a guest leaves a written note, a voice message or a short video, behind the same QR code as the photos, and you choose whether those words stay yours alone or show for everyone.

What Wedbox does well
Fair is fair: Wedbox has been around for years, offers browser uploading through a QR code or a wedding code with no app to install, and announces full-quality downloading at any time. If its retention model suits you and where your data lives is not one of your criteria, it is a serious option. Our difference comes down to two stances: no countdown on your memories, and hosting in the European Union, stated rather than implied.
