What to write, and where to put it

A sign is read standing up, drink in hand, in one second. Anything that does not help someone scan is just clutter: one message, one gesture, and nothing else on the same card (no running order, no seating plan).

The four things that are enough

  • Your names and the date. The sign is part of the day's stationery, so it may as well carry your name rather than a piece of software's.
  • A one-sentence message that names the gesture and what it earns: “Scan, upload your photos, and leave with all of ours.” The same QR code also opens the guest book: if that matters to you, the message has to say so, or nobody will think of it.
  • The QR code, big. Three to four centimetres across on a table card, eight to ten on a welcome sign, with white space around it: that is also what makes phones read it first time.
  • The link as a fallback, for the guest whose camera is misbehaving. The PDF prints it under the QR code by itself, without the “https://”.

Where people pass

  • One A5 per table, in a small stand next to the menu: guests are seated, the phone is already on the cloth. This is what does most of the collecting.
  • One A4 at the entrance and at the drinks reception: collecting has to start with the first photos, not at dessert.
  • One A4 at the photo booth and near the bar: the two places where phones come out on their own.
  • The same link, digitally: on the wedding website and in the guests' group chat, before and after the day.

A sign on its own is not always enough: an announcement from the DJ or a friend at the start of the meal doubles what you collect, because it gives people permission to take their phone out.

No album yet? Create it on Medley first: its QR code points at a page in the name of your wedding, where your guests upload photos and videos with no app and no account.

Frequently asked questions

Is the sign maker really free?
Yes: the PDF sign is free, with no account and no intrusive watermark, whatever the QR code points at. Only a small Medley signature appears at the foot of the page.
Can I use a link that is not a Medley album?
Yes, the generator accepts any http(s) link: a Medley album, a shared folder or a page of your choosing. The QR code will encode exactly the link you supply.
Which format should I choose, A5 or A4?
A5 for the cards that sit on the tables (in a small stand), A4 for the welcome sign or the photo booth. The ideal is to combine the two: one A5 per table and an A4 at the places people pass.
How do I print the sign?
The PDF is at exact dimensions (A5 or A4): print it at 100 % (without “fit to page”) on thick paper, 200 gsm at least so it stands in a holder. At a print shop, ask for rigid stock for the larger formats.
Can I customise the colours and the text?
Yes: three palettes (cream, white, ink), a title, a date and a message, either your own or picked from our suggestions. The preview updates live before you download.
