Comparison
WedUploader or Medley for your event photos?
Choosing between WedUploader and Medley to collect your guests’ photos? This comparison covers how each works and the terms recorded in the sources below.
We look at where the files go (your Google Drive), what guests can see and what the premium package contains.
What to compare
WedUploader stores nothing: every upload lands in your own Google Drive. Every difference below follows from that.
- Where do the files go?
With WedUploader, into a folder of your Google Drive, straight from the guest's phone: the site makes it its first argument, “WedUploader transfers those files directly to your Google Drive”. That takes a Google account on the organiser's side, and room: “Google provides 15 GB of free storage”, about 5,000 photos or more than 90 minutes of video clips according to their About page, then “100GB for $2/month” from Google. A wedding where guests film passes 15 GB before the cake. With Medley, the Event plan includes 100 GB per album, with no Google account, hosted with Scaleway in France.
- What do the guests see?
On the free tier, WedUploader is an upload page: guests send, and see nothing of what the others sent. The gallery (“Display everyone's photos & videos in the album gallery in real-time”) belongs to the premium package, at 39 US dollars, and their FAQ adds that it only shows once the album is toggled from “private” to “public”. With Medley the album is shared from the first photo, on the trial as on the Event plan: everyone sees, reacts, comments and downloads.
- And the guests' words?
The premium package adds “guest captions & messaging in the private digital guestbook” and lets guests “leave private heartfelt voicemails”. Our guest book takes a written note, a voice or a video, behind the same QR code, and it is included from the trial.
- Who hosts, and under which law?
The files sit with Google LLC, in your Drive; WedUploader is published by Dericktronix LLC, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and its terms are governed by the laws of that state (last updated 3 January 2022). Its privacy policy names the company as data controller “for the purpose of the GDPR” without naming a hosting location. Medley hosts inside the European Union, with Scaleway in France, under the terms of a French publisher.

What WedUploader does well
Fair is fair: the files are yours, in a Google Drive folder you already know how to use; nothing expires and nothing locks you in. The free tier collects with no cap on numbers, for unlimited albums and with no expiry, which no free demonstration offers. The premium package is paid once for all your albums: engagement party, hen do and wedding under one 39-dollar purchase, where Medley is paid per album. The site comes in seven languages, with QR code templates, album managers and a seating chart add-on. If you already live in Google Drive and your guests do not need to see the album, the comparison tips their way. Our stance fits on one line: an album the guests see from the first photo, 100 GB with no Google account, hosted in the European Union.
